About Us

Susan Smith, RN, MSN is the founder and director of Avalon Healing Arts, LLC.

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology and a minor in child development. 
  • Registered nurse for more than 20 years.
  • Studied and trained at hospitals affiliated with Harvard Medical School.
  • Worked at major metropolitan medical centers in both Boston and NY.
  • Masters Degree in Nursing (2004) specializing in education and holistic health.
  • Member of the American Holistic Nurses Association.
  • Member of the Nu Eta Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau (the International Nurses Honor Society).
  • Member of the International Association of Reiki Professionals.
  • Article on complementary and alternative health published in the journal “Holistic Nursing Practice”.

  • Certified Master-Teacher in Traditional Usui Reiki.
  • Registered Karuna® Reiki Master
  • Celtic Reiki Master  
  • Ongoing training in Jin Shin Jyutsu® and Tai Chi.
  • Advanced level belt in the martial art of Tae Kwon Do.
  • Certified White Belt Nia Instructor.
  • Perelandra Flower Essence practitioner.
  • Certified Meditation instructor.
  • Workshops in therapeutic touch, the Barbara Brennan School of healing, and Dan Millman’s Peaceful Warrior training.


Our Philosophy
The goal of Avalon Healing Arts is to facilitate each individual’s empowerment in becoming the person they are meant to be. The belief is that each of us has the innate capacity to heal and the desire is to assist clients and students on their healing journey on all levels: physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual.
